The Nets wanted out from under the contracts of Joe Johnson and Deron Williams this summer, but D-Will was always going to be the harder to deal. Williams is set to make $43 million over the next two years, which is a lot of money for an erratic 13 points and 6.6 assists per game (his per-game averages last year).
So the Nets may just buy him out.
Then he would go home and sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

GO FUCK YOURSELF..YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE.

Unless it is for the vet minimum, I'm with you. Fuck DWill, don't need him. He would make us good enough to get the 8th pick next year, and nothing more.

And that would mean the pick goes to Boston. if the Mavs get 1-7 it's protected. Another poor part of the Rondo trade. UGH!!!

Exactly. It means we would only have one pick next year in the 2nd from MEM I think. Unless that is the one we sent for Zaza yesterday.

And no pieces really to trade to stack for the draft next year. We have Dirk and an injured Chandler. Who else? Devin?

tank job?

Carlisle would quit before he let a team not compete.

That's a worry as well. This team, without Carlisle, wouldn't be watchable. He at least gives the team a chance no matter what team they field.

Reading this thread pisses me off and I'm not only not a Mavs fan, but I can't stand Cuban. Love me some Dirk though.

This is more of the fallout of what Jordan did to you guys. Went from being one of the FA winners to Zaza Pachulia and considering tanking vs. getting Deron Williams out the Brooklyn dumpster fire.

I am not quite sure but Williams was never the same after he went from west to east and he sustained that leg injury. Interesting indeed.

As Red said to Pop in the Natural. "Well we sure need something". DWill from NJ is no help. DWill from Utah would be huge

I totally agree UK Cowboy. Williams has been living on his "rep" since his trade and injury and in my opinion, if you give this guy big money, you'd be quite foolish.

If Cuban decides to spend 'stupidly' this the perfect move. I hope he holds onto his dollars to start rebuilding this mess and not with broken down parts.

as bad as shape as Dallas is in the Nets are in WAY WORSE

the Nets dont own picks their picks- or have pick swaps where they get the lower pick for like the next 5 years....lol

that and they have no young talent- and all their vets are WAAAAAY overpriced. Brooklyn is royally screwed for the next - and im serious- pretty much the next 7-8 years....if not longer

The Knicks arent in great shape either as they dont own their pick next year- and the year after they gave up the rights to their pick in a pick swap- and then the next year they dont own their pick at all again...

Dallas is not in great shape- but at least this year is the only year where they are kinda screwed draft pick wise- you could be the Nets or Knicks and really be screwed-------

the Mavs need to turn back the clock for one season to pre-Cuban when they routinely had the 7th or higher pick

As a Boston fan I'm loving all of this. Nets get worse while the Mavs get good enough to not have a top 7 pick.
