Indians are on their way, up 3-0. Postseason pitching has been the key, Cleveland .167 ERA vs Jays .281, while hitting has been comparable.

Looks like the fucken goat has been following the Cubs to the ballpark. Back to back shutouts by LA as Dodgers take 2-1 series lead with awesome pitching by Kershow and Hill.

Yeah, his curve seems to break about 2 feet. Eickhoff's is similar, maybe not that good yet.
Hill probably has the edge in curveballs (2.07 wCB/C for Hill vs. 0.98 for Eickhoff- ranked 5th and 19th respectively in wCB/C this year in all of baseball), but they're two of the best in the business. Hill's curveball breaks vertically 7.89 inches downward (a far cry from your two feet- I think only Koufax could have done that) while Eick is barely behind him at 7.80 inches. Hill, however, has almost double the horizontal movement as Eickhoff (8.78 inches for Hill vs. 4.89 for Eick) which results in more of a slurve and may make it tougher to hit.

As far as actual results this year, Eick was better at generating whiffs/swing at a whopping 39.46 w/s, while Hill was only at 22.55. Eick was able to give up a lower batting average with it (.159 to Hill's slightly higher .168) but Hill was able to generate more singles, with a much lower slugging percentage (.226 to .282).

Rich Hill is one of my favorite pitchers to watch (that is, when he actually pitches). Here's a good article on him I read back in August. Rich Hill Truly Curveballs Like No One Else | FanGraphs Baseball

Interesting stuff, especially his occasional 61-mph curve. Vinnie needs to talk to this guy.

I'd like to see the Cubs in the WS since they haven't won it all in several hundred years. But if the Philodgers somehow pull it out, that would be OK.
? Baseball hasn't been around "several hundred years" lol

10-2 Cubs with Lester vs. Maeda tomorrow, then on to CHI for the final 2. Odds are against LA.

Blanton to be the goat. Too much pressure for him to deal with!

Cubs look like killers. 8-2 lead in 9th. Can Kershaw and 36-year old Hill toss 4-hitters in Chicago? Nope. Believeland is waiting. :pound:

I'll be making my commments in the SportsHoopla World Series Thread. But here are the team comparisons for easy reference.

TEAM COMPARISONS

Cubs season___ .256/.343/.429; 199 HR; Pitching: 103-58, ERA 3.15
Indians season_ .262/.329/.430/.185 HR; Pitching: 94-67, ERA 3.94

Cubs___post season .222/.277/.395; 12 HR; Pitching: 7-3, ERA 2.93
Indians post season .208/.256/.380, 11 HR; Pitching: 7-1, ERA 1.77

Hitting is equivalent. Cubs have the edge in overall pitching, but Indians relievers have been lighs out in the post, even Cubs relief not too shabby. The WS is close to a tossup, with edge to Cubs.

My prediction: Cubs in 6
:feedback:
