From the reports theres probably going to be a call up, hes on crutches and couldnt put any weight on his right leg when he was being helped off the ice

There will be a call up because they want an extra forward in case someone else gets hurt. I wouldn't mind seeing Goldobin but I don't think it will be him and I don't think that call up will get in the line up unless there is an injury.

As for replacement, Im sure Smith will get the nod in the lineup. My hope is that they move tierney to cooch's spot and slide smith in the 4th line C spot. I like this for a few key reasons:

1. Tierney has top 6 potential. I love his game, particularly his point per game down the last 20 or so games last year, and he looks really good playing with shlubs in limited 4th line minutes thus far. I think he might slide in to cooch's spot, play a similar style game, and gel quickly. If it works, suddenly tierney would be another legit top 9 forward to add to the depth.

2. The pavs and hertl lines have been awesome. Messing with them would suck and could really screw with the great chemistry. I would try to keep them intact as much as possible to keep the lines flowing.

3. Smith can slide into the 4th line C role just fine and hopefully give a defensively responsible 10 minutes with some scrappiness.

I dont want to see goldobin in sharks teal. He is better served playing top minutes in the AHL to learn the defensive side of the game. I fear that sliding him in will sink a line defensively and mess up the flow, not to mention short circuiting his development. he only turned 20 last week, and really could use at least 30-40 games with the Cuda's top line to train.

While this injury will obviously hurt (I was reading likely broken ankle = out roughly two months.), it could be just fine in the long term. The sharks will get the LTIR cap relief which could be useful round the deadline. They also can much better absorb a forward injury or two than a defensive one. I figure its also likely that karlsson will be back sooner than later which gives them another potential top 9, defensively aware and ready forward to slide in as well.

I would be surprised if this injury completely derails the ship. Deboer will need to do a good job here...
