BA was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. Sure he got lit up from time to time but he was a rock solid starter who you could count on to trot out there every 5th day and eat up innings. I loved his variety of arm angles, pitches, and pitch speeds. He was fun to watch and an all-around good dude!
They say after 2nd opinion, rotator cuff isn't torn, and will try a few weeks rest instead of surgery. May give Arroyo another chance at a last chance, again. Time isn't in his side of course, but his unique success at sub-MLB standard velocity may give him a relative edge most pitchers that rely on overpowering stuff can't often adjust to.
i will always be a arroyo fan for several reasons. top of the list is, he drilled alex rodriquez. he was / is a humble representative of mlb who always understood and embraced his role. he took pride in being able to provide 200 innings of work for the reds each and every season. came up a inning short in 2011, but pitched when he quite literally had a sweaty greenish hue about him. just looking at him made me want to puke. finally, he stepped up big-time in his every post-season reds career appearance.
