I believe it was as a Met and Giant if I remember correctly. But he played one game of a double header on one team and then got traded between games and played for the other team in the 2nd

I'd say you're underrating him on both ends...he was certainly more than just a 'good' hitter, and he was pretty average on defense (wouldn't say he sucked). He defense really went downhill as he was approaching his mid 30s, an age when most everyday catchers are long done catching full time..

I'm pretty sure New York and San Diego was it for him, nothing else comes to mind. Should have been 2 former Padres entering the HOF with Hoffman too, but he'll get in sooner or later.
