Conference Exit Fees. does anyone really know how and when they are paid?

A caller and a local radio host were going back and forth about this.

the local hack said that A&M took NU and CU exit fees and pocketing about 15mill. Now a year later, they have to pay exit fees. (so i guess NU and CU paid a majority of A&M's exit fee?)

the caller then said that no exit fees have been paid because the Big XII is withholding revenue from the TV deals this year and next year that would have been paid to CU and NU if they stayed.

The caller is correct.

NU and CU didn't technically "pay" anything. The conference simply didn't pay them for their last season.

Now with A&M, that might be different.......the fees are 30 mill, and they weren't going to get that much from the conference, so they'll have to cough up some loot.
