When you pitch a large portion of your games in the AL East your ERA is going to be higher than the average across baseball. Just the way it is.

sure, but the point is that generally if a pitcher is going to have the elite season for you guys he will be a righty...

and the reasons are obvious... Fenway is a heavy righty hitting ballpark, a righty pitcher has the advantage vs a righty hitter...

Lefty pitchers have NO advantage at fenway...

No one said he was an ace for his whole Red Sox career. In fact, no one said anything close to that. You just said he was mediocre for most of it, which is retarded.

So his only ace season with the Sox was 143 innings he gave them in 2014? Are you feeling OK today?

If you interviewed the 30 front offices and asked them they'd get 200+ innings of 135 ERA+ ball out of their ace for the next four years, how many of those teams do you think would not sign up for that?

Read my context... I already admitted I over exaggerated... All I am saying is lefties don't find as much success than righties at fenway... any time the red sox have had great pitching it has almost always came from a righty...

Bruce Hurst and Jon Lester say hello.

And comparing Sale to Pedro is retarded. Full blown, round eyed drooling fucking retarded.

Hurst had a career ERA over 4 at Fenway in a pitcher friendly era...is that supposed to be good to something?

does lester say hi?? compare him to the better righty seasons... you would be surprised how mediocre lester was for most of his red sox career... He really only had one ACE season...

and Bruce Hurst?? is that a joke... he only had one season with an ERA better than 3.5, yes it was a 2.99... But that was only one season, and that season he didn't even reach 200 innings
he was a horse. he had 83 CG for shits sake, 43 coming over a 4 year span. 23 CGSHO

9 seasons of 200+ innings

in his time just in boston, 25% of his starts were CG (.2488 rounded). thats crazy.

Sale is one big troll for making me think his arm will spontaneously combust every year with his throwing motion. If nothing else, he'll get a lot more acclaim then he did as a Southsider.

Chris Sale is looking pretty filthy so far.

Not ready to compare him to Pedro because Pedro's 1999-2000 seasons were so ridiculous I just don't think you can compare other pitchers to him.

But damn he's looking good.

Was it crazy or does it just seem crazy now? In what I would call 7 full seasons in Boston he finished in the top in the AL in CGs just twice. I've got 9 pitchers with more CGs from '82-'88 and three more guys (Gooden, Clemens, Hershiser) who are very close despite not having participated in some of those seasons.

The list of pitchers ahead of him isn't a shitty one or anything, don't get me wrong. They were all good pitchers. But ranking where he does on that list seems more to me like a slight positive to Hurst than something that should have a "crazy" effect on valuation.
