Does this mean there is no excuse not to sign big name players from this point forward?? I mean Byrd is a huge signing and all but....

There's none worth going after at the moment. If they do I would like them to maybe go after international guys like Tanaka who might be a little younger. The way mlb is set up now it is hard to get a big name guy in free agency without having to pay a lot for him in years that he is past his prime. If they really do have plenty of money though and they believe they are only a solid starter away from contending maybe see if an older guy like Arroyo will agree to a 2 year contract or something.
