I know that Amaro may be the worst GM in baseball...but why exactly is his price so high? They will finish last with or without Hamels the next couple of years while paying him a huge salary that could be invested in rebuilding down the line...and he will continue to depreciate as an asset. Teams aren't going to pay the guy the same money that a top free agent would command AND give up all of their top young talent.

The price is not too high. The Phillies are willing to pay up to a third of his salary if they can get some decent prospects. Hamels is their last chance to get a solid prospect on a trade. hamels best fit would be for a team that wants to win it all now!
