But at least Sam won't have to learn a new offense and I bet he will have a lot more freedom with changing the plays and calling is own plays at the line of scrimmage. If he's back with the Rams that is...

How do you know that Cignetti is not as good as Shottenheimer, Cougar. And what is the basis for that determination? You just throwing that out there based on what?

He was my neighbor as a kid. Saw him run over another neighbors dog by accident once and he stopped by the house the next day to see if I was ok since he knew I was traumatized from seeing it happen. Can he win football games as an OC in the NFL? No idea! :noidea:

I'm okay with it however I thought early on it would be an in house promotion. I'm guessing with his past experience as an OC in the College ranks he has a good idea of what he is doing and we all know that Cleveland was eyeballing the dude as their OC so it's a win for us to keep some continuity here in the Rams organization.

All he needs to do is hit the teens or better in NFL offensive rankings and he will beat out anything that Brian has done.

With all the talent that was available, this is who we end up with? Its like going to a bar/club where the majority of women are 8's, 9's and 10's, and hooking up with a 5.
Hoping for the best, but not a confidence inspiring pick.

Once again, apparently no one wants this job so the Rams have little choice. We invited several OCs and we had an interview with Nate Hackett who was due for a second interview and then he mysteriously bolted for Jacksonville. I wonder why?

But maybe these guys see us as being a 1 or 2, so ending up with a 5 is Winning!:suds:

Maybe this "5" that we are getting is good at some things that we actually need and cares about us and not just screwing us for our money!

Sure hope you're right Smed. Wasn't a fan of Shotty, but maybe this guy can come up with more exciting and effective gameplans. We already have a solid D, now we need to O to follow suit.

Not only is this OC going to have to create effective game plans but be proactive at halftime and make the necessary offensive adjustments during the game to win. He needs to be in more of an attack mode. This OC also needs to effectively use the personnel to the team's advantage rather than playing to the opposition and using the people we have to develop our strengths. The success of the O begins with an upgraded O-line and a few more pieces. Hopefully Cignetti will get out from the shadows of Shottenheimer but I'll wait to see how this all comes together, if it does.

Well Retro, I am going to back the guy until proven otherwise.

One thing I know for certain, every single great offensive coordinator in the history of the NFL got their first NFL OC gig somewhere.

Now it's Frank's turn, we should all get behind this dude, cheer him on and hope he has great success!

Your right I don't know that much about him besides he's Sams QB coach. I know Georgia wasn't calling him though stealing him away.. And he was no where near the top of the rams first choices. Like I've been saying all along I think the Rams were having a problem hiring an OC because they can't tell him who the quarterback's going to be. I would think that would be a dealbreaker for most especially a big-name guy. I think this hire is to try to please Sam and get him to stay.

I know it sounds messed up but u think our QB situation is bad now imagine it without having Sam on the roster.... It gets real bad. I really think Sams agent is feeling out desperate QB needed teams. Their are plenty. The FA list of QB's is really bad with Sanchez being the best option. Actually without Sam we don't have a QB on the roster?
