It sounds like he's never really coached a team before. Great player in both college and the pros.
I remember one particular play he made while at St. John's. He'd flashed into the lane not too far from the FT line and a pass was tossed to him. With one hand, he redirected the ball slightly to Bill Wennington who was near the goal for an easy basket. Very "Larry Birdish", if I don't mind saying so myself.
Great player. GM, not so much. Heck of a nice guy though. Met Mullin and Mitch Richmond at a SF nightclub in the late 1980s. Both were really cool dudes.
