I once shared a court with chris long, long ago before BC, fresno. we're the same age. i played him in a playoff game in 1993. i scored 5 pts and had 7 boards. i think he put up 30 on us.
he was a living legend in this state as a high schooler. everyone knew who he was...long before the internet.

if you havent seen the 30 for 30, do so.

SEEKONK, Mass. -- Former NBA player Chris Herren is launching a wellness center aimed at helping people avoid and break free of substance abuse.

He says Herren Wellness will offer life-skills coaching, educational workshops and fitness and nutrition advice.

The native of Fall River is setting up the center in Seekonk, Massachusetts, just over the border from Rhode Island.

Herren was a high school standout and a star at Boston College and Fresno Statebefore being drafted by the Denver Nuggets. He later played for the Celtics and also played seven seasons internationally.

Herren, 42, has been in recovery since 2008. He launched a nonprofit in 2011 to provide resources for substance abuse education and treatment.

I remember him.

Glad he finally got it together.

Do you remember the Ginger kid, Robert Swift, that Seattle drafted out of High School?

He became a huge heroin attic.

But, recently got his self together I and is playing pro overseas.

It's never to late to start over.

I think Leon Smith was the worst.

Had a horrible life in foster care.

Drafted out of High School by tithe Spurs, traded to the Mavs immediately.

Melts the Fuck down, takes a bottle of aspirin and had to be placed in a Psych ward.

Sad as shit....

The sad saga of Leon Smith

Korleone Young is another cautionary tale.
