Man, this sounds like the opposite Boss post (I remember one of Steve's classic posts being that hockey fans in Toronto wanting to watch NHL hockey only had to drive 90 minutes to watch the Sabres).

I just remember when they were showing replays of the game winning goal, the telecast went to kopitar jumping up off the ice as the light started flashing. It looked like the nbc directors were suggesting that the nose up the kings ass announce team we had to listen to make a comment that there were too many men on the ice. I dont know what the goalpost deal was, it was just odd to see kopitar hanging on the boards when the rest of the team was starting to celebrate.
