San Fran axes baseball tradition -- smokeless tobacco - CNN.com

(CNN) Chewing tobacco has long been a tradition in baseball, but that tradition could be on its way out in one big-league city.

San Francisco on Friday banned smokeless tobacco at all sports venues, including AT&T Park, home of the city's Major League Baseball team, the Giants.

It makes the city the first in the nation with such a restriction.

The bill is intended to "send a simple and strong message -- tobacco use in sports will no longer harm our youth, or our health," said Mark Farrell of the Board of Supervisors, who sponsored the bill.

But since San Fran did it instead, No Fucking Way! Let people live the way they want. It is a nasty as hell habit, but there is no second hand smoke, so let people do what they want to their own bodies, even if they are stupid by doing it.

Anyone who puts down tobacco is putting down America and should be hanged for treason. What do you think helped those early colonies make it? Could it be America's first cash crop, the greatest plant of them all, tobacco? And if you're against tobacco, I also highly suspect you of being racist against black people seeing how without tobacco, many of the slaves wouldn't have been brought over here and thus many of our black friends wouldn't be here today if not for tobacco.

Plus those anti tobacco commercials are the gayest thing I've seen since gay came to gay town. They just make me want to dip and chew more when I see them so I don't end up acting like the queers in the commercials.

I am not a fan of tobacco products, but this is a big overreach. As long as someone isn't spitting it all over the place, I could care less if you chew. Why not ban shitty high calorie fat laden food instead. That's a far biiger health risk to society than chewing tobacco. Be a leader in the fight against obesity instead of doing this PR stunt.
