Here's a look at the latest edition of Full Count from Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports..

Chase Headley is probably going to be traded by the July 31st deadline. The Padres plan to spend the next two months determining whether they can lock up the third baseman long term, but there are two problems with that. For starters, Headley says he doesn't want to talk about a new deal during the season. Secondly, it would be surprising to see San Diego crack $100MM to keep him. Headley probably wants a better hitting environment and to play for a better team. Meanwhile, there's no shortage of teams that would like to add him as Rosenthal says there could be at least a dozen clubs in the market for a third baseman, including the Dodgers, Cubs, and White Sox.

I can totally see the Dodgers going after Headley.

Of course, the Dodgers go after everybody now. They are like the Yanks of old.

Not working out for em.

Yeah, the Dodgers are all in and the season is young. I could see them hitting the panic button and going after Headley to get some stability and power at 3rd. In fact, if I were betting on scenarios, that's the one I'd go with.

Headley would look good in Dodger blue. We have several players and a boatload of money we could send San Diego.

I'd rather hold on to him & let him walk in two years than trade him to the Dodgers. I don't want him coming to Petco in a Dodgers uniform.

There are plenty of teams in need of 3B. If they trade him & I expect them too, I'll be shocked if it's to the Dodgers.

We need pitching!!!

We need a veteran starter and we need someone/anyone to come off the DL and impress. I wish we could get the Cuban guy with three names that's down in Tijuana but I doubt they're going to go high enough on him.

I don't think a waivers trade is a real option at this point but nothing Byrnes does will surprised me.

A thought just occurred to me. If the Padres are dealing at the deadline, can you even imagine the position we'll be in to stack up for years to come? I truly believe we're poised to do it this season, but if not, we're in a very enviable position.

Wow!

The Blue Jays and Padres continue to discuss a Chase Headley trade, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports tweets. His colleague Ken Rosenthal adds that some within the Jays organization think that the team’s most acute need is a hitter, rather than a starting pitcher. In late June, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the Blue Jays had interest in Headley and that the Padres would be willing to deal him.
