What's wrong with the board? Why is it so dead, in the middle of the season? The biggest story of the night doesn't even have a thread. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this altercation?

Yeah, I saw that. Charles Oakley is Charles Oakley and that's clearly over the top but I can understand why he has so much of a problem with Dolan because the guy's just a major dickhead.

Well, if he was being a disturbance and trying to cause problems, then he shouldve been kicked out. What, is security supposed to just stand there and let oakley act like the jackass he always is, because he's a "hometown favorite"??

Oakley will never get over himself. Same dude he was 25 years ago, just an old man now.

You are missing the big picture. I'm not blaming security for doing their job. The story out there, is that Dolan sent security to him. Dolan don't want Oakley apart of the Knicks family because he been criticizing them the past years. That's the same mistake the Rams made with Eric Dickerson.

The fans side with Oakley. Period!

Fair enough. That said, Oakley being his usual prick self isnt gonna make it any easier for anyone to "accomodate" him. Charles Oakley makes grouchy smurf seem pleasant by comparison

Not sure which side I'd fall on here. Yeah, Dolan's a schmuck who doesn't know how to run an NBA team, but Oakley is also a schmuck who doesn't know how to behave himself in public.

And I guess some fans still think fondly of Oakley, but I don't think he's Eric Dickerson-level. He was a role player on some good teams, not the superstar

Well, their relationship is dead, so I don't think he cares.

Yes, he wasn't the star, but he was the enforcer.

Im not picking a side yet, because there are 2 different sides, but so far, the fans are siding with Charles.

Oakley came in a suit hoping to work things out. Dolan just acted like a triggered childish jackass.

Reggie Miller talked about this on Dan Patrick this morning. Reggie has known Oakley for 25 years. Now, to be fair, Reggie said he hasn't spoken to Oakley yet, so this is speculation on Reggie's part based on knowing Oakley for so long.

He said that what he has heard happened was that Dolan has basically given the message that he doesn't want Oakley around the organization. He said that he doesn't think Oakley, who had to buy his own ticket to the game or had one given to him, went to the game looking for a confrontation. He said that he thinks Oakley went hoping that Dolan would see him and extend an olive branch to allow them to sort out their issues. Instead, when Dolan saw him, he sent his security to escort Oakley out of the building.

As evidence to back it up he said to look at how Oakley was dressed (nice suit, etc.) and that Oakley isn't going to get "suited up" and go looking for a fight.

As I said, this is speculation by Reggie, but considering Dolan's reputation, I'd expect there's bound to be at least some accuracy in what Reggie said.

Was it Reggie that said that? ...because he needs his house checked for lead if he did.

Not sure that is really the whole story. One article said Charles had been yelling at Dolan from a few rows away for quite a while -- then Dolan sent security there. (I'm sure if wasn't just -- Dolan saw Charles -- then sent security even though Charles was just sitting quietly.)

Several years back Oakley sued a Casino because 5 security people assaulted him.

That's what security people do, that find a huge guy and assault him for no reason what so ever.

Yep, that's what he said. I don't know Oakley personally like Reggie does. When I first heard him say that, I thought "What is Reggie talking about? Oakley is ALWAYS looking for a fight." But then I thought, I only know how he played, Reggie knows him personally, so maybe Reggie is right?

And to be fair, as I said, Reggie said he hasn't talked to Oakley. He also said (and I neglected to post it) that Dolan and the Knicks have a different version (go figure) and that the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Based on his reputation, I could see Dolan seeing him there and sending security to make him leave (after all, it's apparently been made clear that Dolan doesn't want him around).

But based on Oakley as a player, I could see him hoping for an olive branch and when one wasn't extended to him, getting upset and starting in on Dolan.
