And the big difference between the Gopher/Badger hockey rivalry and say the OSU/Michigan rivalry is that the Gophers and Badgers were both coached/led by former Gopher players and both teams were stocked with mostly Minnesota natives, sometimes former high school teammates, and the teams played each other multiple times each season and combined to make it to 13 Frozen Fours in 14 seasons, just missing #14 in 1980 for obvious and VERY understandable reasons, including winning SEVEN NATL TITLES in just 14 years.



Michigan/OSU fb COMBINED have only won a total of THREE titles in over FIFTY YEARS!!!

7 in 14 is WAY more impressive than 3 in 50.

FSU n Miami did that 6 years straight.

Now THAT is a great rivalry.

FSU n Florida did it 3 years in a row. 6 years in a row of the two finishing Top 8, 9 of 10 years they both finished Top Ten.

10 seasons where 2 of the 3 Florida schools finished Top Ten and FOUR seasons where ALL 3 finished Top Ten over a 15 year period. The one season FSU finished First and UF only finished 12th.

How far back do you have to go to get 16 of those 19 titles for OSU & Michigan? Over 50 years? UMn was more of Michigan's rival until after Pearl Harbor.

Michigan has won only one title since 1950, and it was a shared title at that.



On the other hand ALL 8 of FSU's and Miami's Titles have been won in the last 50 years. Same with UF's 3 titles.
