They have a sortof tiein to the Orange, but they don't take the place of an ACC team.

Through 2025, the Orange Bowl features an ACC team (always) against either Notre Dame, B1G team, or an SEC team. There are restrictions to how often a conference can be featured, as Notre Dame cannot be featured more than twice in an 8-year period, and the SEC and B1G are guaranteed at least 3 appearances each.

I like Duke Football. I'd love to see them win out, finish (10-2) and go to the Orange Bowl!

Quite possibly. If Louisville can survive with only 1 additional loss (Clemson) then I think the spot is theirs. I just don't have faith in them beating ALL of Virginia, Miami, Kentucky, NC State and Syracuse.

LOL! Same! I like Duke Football but NOT Duke Basketball! I simply had a great time @ the 2010 Alabama @ Duke Game and appreciate what Coach Cutcliffe has done. I have a fondness for teams punching up!

Cutcliffe is a helluva coach. I always thought he got a raw deal at Ole Miss. an he was absolutely the reason the Tennessee team was excellent under fulmer.

IIRC, when it says ACC 4th versus SEC 5th, it just means that bowl gets to select their teams in that position. So Bowl X gets the to choos 4th from the ACC but they can choose the 5th, 6th or 7th place finisher instead.

The Orange will take the highest ranked ACC team....however there is a real possibility that none will be ranked...in which case they have a bit of freedom, albeit in a shitty situation.
