This game wasn't very good for 40 minutes, but the 3rd period and OT certainly made up for it.

Some random thoughts from a Leafs fan after the game...watched the game on NBC

• Wow. Did they spend 30 minutes showing grandchildren of people 99.9% of the TV audience has never heard of?
• Gretzky. Dude. Get some real clothes, like that fit. Embarrassing.
• Anthems. Yes, they sucked.
• Airplane flyover. Geez, only one plane and you were late. Seriously, I have always marveled at how well that is time at the Super Bowl
• Loved the airtime Ott and Martin got after their fight. Hilarious.
• Agree with all the above comments re the actual game. After the opening sequence, it will be a miracle if anyone outside of Detroit hung around to watch the third on NBC.
• I don't know what is goalie interference either
• Matthews shows up in the big games. Can't recall the last Leaf who has that knack
• Having said that, Matthews has a lot of room for improvement. The wily veteran pretty well abused him all night (Zett)
• Why didn't you trade Mantha to TOR for Dion, like you were supposed to???

It got really cold there once the sun went down and the play got better.

I should've just showed up for the third.

The Leafs have played almost an entire game of extra hockey since this season began. Once they learn how to hold onto leads I will be very happy.

because holland is a pussy and doesn't make trades. for once it worked out but holland's conservative nature is why the rebuild on the fly has failed
