If he gets clutch hits against the Yankees frequently his team's playoff WL becomes insignificant. And if he gets those hits in games the Yankees need to win to make the post-season...

That's because the Yankees rely more heavily on FA's than most teams...although during their heyday in the early 2000's the majority of those teams were home grown.
