Thought you "old fella's" would appreciate this story!

This is outstanding. Please, never change Buck Showalter:
Buck asked O's farmhand Josh Hart if he knew who Frank was. He didnt, so Buck told him he wanted a one-page report on him by tmrw. #Orioles

The "Frank" referenced above would be legendary Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, who is the only player in MLB history to win an MVP in both the National League (1961, Reds) and American League (1966, Orioles -- a season in which he won the triple crown).
Not only that, but Frank hit .294/.389/.537 (154 OP+) in his career with 586 homers (9th all-time) and 1,812 RBI (20th all-time). Two World Series rings, a Rookie of the Year, a Gold Glove, 12 All-Star Games ... we'll just leave the rest to Josh and his report.
Hart, by the way, was a sandwich pick (37th overall) last June out of high school and is only 19 years old.

wow...they could pass as father and son!

I doubt Robby knows much about this guy. Let's hope he doesn't have to do a report.

I think the kid is more of the grandson age.

Nothing wrong with Buck educating a kid with a little Orioles history- the team that is paying him to not pretend to be a student on a scholarship. Might not hurt MLB to include a personal finance class to teen age draft picks too...that way when their knees betray them at 26 years old they might be able to fund their own education.

One of the best lines I ever heard was an employee of the NBA of all things- that gives the "you need ONE speech". To paraphrase, it goes like this- "congrats on making the NBA and making more money than any non-criminal you ever knew. Lots of people are going up tell you you need them to help you with all that money, but it's a lie. Don't give anyone from the old hood your money- if they knew anything about money, they wouldn't have met you. You only need ONE of everything- and don't take out loans or gamble for any of them...you need ONE bank account, ONE car, ONE watch, ONE house, ONE girlfriend or wife- not both or two dozen. You also only need ONE job- this one if you do it right, will be the only one you ever have to have. You are living proof you don't have to be smart to be rich. You DO have to be smart enough to stay rich though". The NBA started this after discovering that nearly half of players filed bankruptcy within 10 years of leaving the NBA.
