If we were winning and we happened to have an extra spot for him sure, but he wouldn't be anything but hype now. It would probably be how it was for Griffey when he came back with a lot of fans expecting way too much and being disappointed when it doesn't happen.

That being said I expect the front office to trade for him soon to use that hype to help cover up the fact that the team sucks.

This makes complete sense. Distracting the fan base by hiring Edgar didn't quite work so let's try again by bringing back Ichiro. It will bring in more fans and get more money for Nintendo. Everyone wins! Oh yea except us, seems about right.
I'd rather bring back Kawaski so he can dance with the grounds crew.
They are a joke indeed.

I'm just waiting for whatever the front office has for a master stroke to kill these guys once and for all.

You can only save your own ass for so long by signings like these.

While we're at it, let's trade for Arod, bring back Buhner, Jr. Wilson, Cora, and activate Edgar... Funny thing is, offensively, we'd probably be better than we are now...

One thing we know about Ichiro - the opponent defenses won't be using the shift against him.

Ackley is going to be on the team for the remainder of the year and then end up like Justin Smoak - waived or non-tendered. Maybe next year the Blue Jays will have Smoak, Saunders and Ackley in their opening day starting lineup.

Smoak has done OK with his limited playing time in Toronto this year. I think all three of those guys would do OK in a positive offensive environment like the Skydome. And there may be open positions with the Blue Jays this winter. Encarnacion and Bautista are both pending free agents.

we could add pretty much any schmuck, and it would be "nothing to lose". that was my point.

ackley for ichiro is what this team has come to.

Ackley for Ichiro I guess, but Ichiro is the most polarizing athlete in Seattle history and it would seem stupid for Jack but if Jack is going down I could see him going down swinging with trying to win brownie points

It's almost a guarantee that Ackley will end up with an organization that will treat him like just another guy instead of the golden boy and force him to change his approach and he will end up being a serviceable MLB player.

Don't worry, when the Mariners lose out on the other top tier outfielders during free agency, we'll sign Ichiro as a consolation prize to the marketing department and our Japanese fan base/ownership.

I think that is a bit disrespectful...to Willie.
all the more funny because it's true.

bloomquist maximized his talent, if anything. no way he should ever be considered anything but a spectacular over-achiever.
