I was barely aware of his existence up until a couple days ago but now I'm obsessed with his stats. If you look at the traditional stats that people consider important he looks incredibly mediocre. But you check out his WAR numbers and they are amazing. He must be an incredible defender, among other things. He's never been on an all star team or gotten a single MVP vote, but in basically 3.5-4 years of Plate appearances he has a WAR of 19.3. Last year his total WAR was 65th among all players including pitchers, just behind Shin Soo Shoo. In 2010 he ranked 8th, right behind Albert Pujols. Yes, I said Albert Fucking Pujols. His defensive WAR that year was 3.3. He might be the most underrated player of all time. (either that or he hacked into the wizard that calculates the WAR stats). Since Amaro is so obsessed with outfield defense maybe he should try to get this guy somehow

They should make every effort to move Paps to get Brett Gardner if they can - and then move Ben Revere and get some type of reliever or power bat off the bench

You're serious, you didn't know about the guy? He was a big part of the 2009 Yankees. He plays an amazing outfield, whether it's left or center field. If I'm remembering correctly, he had an amazing catch on a ball that Jayson Werth hit near the 409 wall in Game 5 of the '09 World Series. He has no power, and doesn't walk much, but he does hit for a respectable average and is usually good for 30+ stolen bases. With their overcrowded outfield, New York is apparently shopping him. I doubt the Phils will be players unless D Brown is traded, because otherwise our outfield is pretty much set.

In conclusion, Gardner is basically everything Ben Revere wishes he could be.

He's fast, with a fucked up looking head, good defense, but has a real problem staying healthy.

He does have a problem staying healthy, but I don't think it's anything Mark Prior-like. Being too lazy to look it up, I'm pretty sure the only season he missed significant time was 2012 (but I could be wrong).

I could have sworn he had two other seasons severely hampered by injury. Well, either way, he still has a fucked up looking head.

I had a procedure done that completely erased the 2009 series from my mind. He actually is pretty good at taking a walk though. Your assessment is spot on. I also wish and hope Ben Revere could/can be as productive as Gardner.

I don't need to urban dictionary that. Fluffers exist. They've existed for a long time.

Have you followed my advice and switched to giving out handies?

Well, I knew I would fuck something up. It was the 387 sign, not the 409 one.
