At 43 years of age, Tom Brady is already defying what was believed to be possible for a quarterback in the NFL. Having just won his seventh Super Bowl, Brady is clearly still capable of playing at the highest level.

That said, the Buccaneers’ recent Super Bowl win was at least partly a product of having an overwhelming amount of talent on the team’s roster. With the onset of the offseason, Tampa Bay now has to confront several questions over free agents.

The team’s cap space could theoretically increase if Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht was able to sign Brady to a contract extension. Still, agreeing to a contract extension with a 43-year-old quarterback would appear foolish. But with Brady — and his historic longevity — it’s apparently on the table, as Licht confirmed in an interview with radio host Rich Eisen.

“It’s a possibility,” Licht said of a Brady extension. “He certainly didn’t look like he slowed down any this year.”

“We’ll have to see how that goes,” added the Tampa Bay executive.

This helps:

According to Spotrac, an extension for Brady could potentially open up $10 million in cap space for the Buccaneers. It would keep Brady under contract until he was 45, the age that the longtime quarterback has said he’d like to play at least up to in the past.

The Bucs could do a lot worse. Brady is going to sell out the stadium and sell Buc merch for years to come. You just can't bet against the guy. He's better at 43 than most QB's at 23. Go figure that shit!!!

He would figure to pass Brees in yardage and completions(assuming Brees does retire) in 2021. If he plays in 2022, as well, he would put just about every QB passing stat out of reach for others for at least 20 years.

At this point the Bucs have the right idea " Don't look like he's slowed down to me " people are idiots they keep projecting Brady is worsening. or will fall off the proverbial cliff. Shit he just won his 7th SB. Give him a top heavy deal that decreases each year, or a chunky signing bonus

Brady's going to Denver at age 49 when he falls off cliff and win another SB there!!
Gisele will probably purchase a team after Tom’s tenure in Tampa is over.

I hope it happens. Hold no grudges against Brady. He did a lot for the Pats and deserves NE fan loyalty for what he did. He went for greener pasture and found it.

Big question is ... if he stayed in NE with that depleted team would they have had better record than with Cam?

Sure BB, BB, he’s great but time has proven you need a healthy, motivated, productive QB to win.

If he had stayed in New England it wouldn't have been on Cam Newton money. That would have meant less talent around him than the Patriots put around Newton.

So after he wins 4 more rings, will he go into the hall as a Pat or a Buc?

No, He would not have. As I said before. Brady wouldn't have thrown to the guys Newton (granted not very often) did. Brady would have been extremely unhappy and pissed off and he wouldn't have been succesful this past season

Buccaneers signed Tom Brady to a one-year contact extension.

The extension saves the Buccaneers $19 million against the cap this year and locks in Brady for the next two seasons. Brady has long said he wants to play into his mid-40s, and this extension would get him to his age-44 season. With Chris Godwin locked in with the team's franchise tag and Rob Gronkowski long refusing to play with any QB but Brady, the Bucs will have the band back for 2021 -- and beyond
