Bobby Wallace Set to Retire from North Alabama

Nothing official yet, but RUMINT showing Wallace may finally cut sling from head coaching for good, after UNA fell short in its bid for a fourth D2 national championship. Many though he would stay to ride the transition of the program to FCS.

Plenty of notables have served on the Lions' coaching staff, including of course Bobby Wallace, Mark Hudspeth, and Terry Bowden.

Would rather not see another FBS has-been come to UNA, since they tend to be too expensive, and they don't usually stay long.

Willis set to become next head coach for the Lions.

Willis, 42, becomes the sixth head football coach at UNA since 1988. He was hired at UNA by Mark Hudspeth in 2002 and has coached on both sides of the ball. Before coming to UNA, he spent three seasons at Delta State, including the first as a graduate assistant. He is a graduate of Delta State.

He takes over at an interesting time for the program. UNA will compete for a final season in Division II in 2017 before moving to the Big South in football in 2018.
