Steelers.com is reporting that Blount has been waived effective today.

As most know he walked off the field before the game was over last night...he had been disgruntled about playing time...Quick decision by Tomlin...even though he was a needed player...it's one that I like.

Agreed, had to be done. There were rumblings he was a bad influence on Bell too, beyond the MJ incident from earlier in the season.

You gotta love Mike Tomlin. Nothing but total respect for him.

I'm hearing Josh Harris might get the nod off the PS...or maybe Archer will finally get a true look...at least he hasn't complained about lack of touches.

Sometimes, perception IS reality. Blount is a talent but he's also a bad seed in that locker room. As soon as we heard about the preseason incident with him and Bell, I knew Blount was a bad influence on Bell. Regardless of who it was, Tomlin or Colbert or the Rooneys, they made the right choice.

Now even though he gets hurt a lot, I would love to see the Steelers sign Ben Tate. When healthy, he is the perfect Steelers running back. The guy is a bruiser who unlike Blount, knows his role. And I'm sure he'd love a chance at returning to the NFC North. You're either with us or you're against us.

Damn, go to sleep and hear Blount has pissed off the Steelers, wake up to find out he's unemployed...

It's the Pittsburgh Steelers, not the Pittsburgh Blounts!!! Be a team player or pack your shit and go!!!

That's like trading one cancer for another…

Tate complained about not getting carries in CLE… Same thing that Blount did… Both got axed…

In other words… No thanks

New England can have him. How soon before he flames out up there too?

Bellichek is a master at "plug & play". He'll use him this year and then discard him next year and Blount will be on to playing for his 6th team in 5 years. Seems like I read somewhere you need 5 yrs to be invested in the NFL retirement system so LeGarrette just might make it. Unless of course his immature behavior finally gets the best of him and he does something really stupid. Personally I wouldn't put it past him to blow it big time. Few tears will be shed if that happens.

He didn't get sent packing from NE the first time for nothing. I'm thinking that you're right. For as long as the terms fit both of them, he can add something in the right places but he won't be given a second chance if he fucks up.

He didn't get sent packing from New England at all. His contract was up and he was looking for (and deserving of) a pretty big raise. BB was not willing to pay him what Pittsburgh was and off he went.

I have not heard or read anything that would infer that he was a trouble maker in the NE locker room.

Perhaps you're right but when a good player leaves abruptly, I assume there was some problem with B.B.

That's probably more often right than wrong.

It was about money

The Boston Herald doesn't expect the Patriots to offer "much more" than $2 million over two years to free agent LeGarrette Blount.
This falls right in line with what we'd expect, as well. Blount is a pure early-down bruiser who offers nothing in the passing game. New England also has Stevan Ridley and Brandon Bolden as options should Blount decide to take his talents elsewhere. Blount wants to stay with the Patriots, but the money has to be right.

Steelers agreed to terms with RB LeGarrette Blount on a two-year, $3.85 million contract, including a $950,000 signing bonus.:suds:
