I still don't have any idea what the Raiders were thinking when they made him the primary backup. He really shouldn't be in the league any longer. He is THAT bad.
Well the idea behind it actually wasn't bad in that with them hiring Musgrave as the OC Ponder knows the system so they don't have to get him as many reps as somebody who is just starting out in the system. This means they can focus more time on Carr and getting him up to speed while still having a back up that knows the system. No matter what though any team that is relying on their back up to lead them after the starter goes down is already in big time trouble. So for the Raiders it probably wouldn't matter who they have as a back up.
