So not backwards. Unless 34 is 45 backwards.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out WTF is wrong with some of the scores in the original post.

The best explanation I can come up with is that 20 minutes prior to posting, the OP was like:

So I guess we can chalk this up as:

Looking back on the season, BYU beating Wisconsin at Camp Randall may not be a big upset, but at the time it certainly was a candidate for Top 5. Wisconsin coming off a 13-1 season, entire OL returning, best back in the nation and had won its 1st 2 games easily. Wisconsin was ranked 6th at the time and a popular pick for the CFP.

Old Dominion over Virginia Tech was a huge upset, but at the end of the day, Va Tech needed Virginia to shit the bed just to back into a low level bowl game.

Purdue just flat out beat the shit out of a playoff caliber team.

Wouldn't call Ohio State playoff caliber. They were good, but were pretty clearly not one of the four best teams in the country. They were blown out by 7 loss Purdue and were just manhandled on both sides of the ball. They went to overtime with 7 loss Maryland and were outplayed by them. They also struggled heavily against 4 loss Washington, 8 loss Nebraska, and 4 loss Penn State. They weren't even impressive against 6 loss TCU or 6 loss Minnesota. Their only accomplishments were beating Northwestern, a team that was blown out by Duke (Jones is good, but had no weapons around him) and beating Michigan, who lost worse to Florida, the sixth best team in the SEC. All four playoff teams would have beaten them decisively, Clemson and Bama by 30+ points.

I'll give the nod to Old Dominion here. Ohio State was a decent team that was manhandled away by Purdue, a dangerous team. But Virginia Tech is a traditionally good football team that got blown out at home by a tiny in-state program that should have been a pity game to raise money for the little school. Virginia Tech should have been better at every single position, with an average recruiting class rank of 30, compared to Old Dominion's 120. Ohio State's loss is funnier, but Virginia Tech's is the bigger upset.

I love that Nebraska losing at home to Troy is less of an upset than CMU beating Maine .

The Texas Upset over Iowa State (24-10) was the biggest IMO, as it cost Iowa State a place in the Big Xii Championship Game and the Sugar Bowl.

An WVU choked a spot in the B12 championship away when they blew it in Stillwater.

Ndsu would've beat Troy by 20 plus

Did you miss the part about Iowa losing to an FCS team, or is it just too painful to acknowledge?
