Veteran defensive lineman Vince Wilfork met with the Texans on Sunday night, per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Wilfork, who played 11 seasons with the Patriots, did not have his option picked up by New England at the start of free agency.

Wilfork should find plenty of familiar faces on the Texans staff, as head coach Bill O’Brien, defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, linebackers coach Mike Vrabeland quarterbacks coach George Godsey were all coaches or teammates of Wilfork during his tenure with the Patriots. Wilfork’s agent said earlier in the weekend that a certain level of familiarity is key for Wilfork when it comes to deciding where he’s going to end up.

I think Clowney is done (microfracture just is BAD news for guys at that weight... and cartilage never repairs/regenerates/comes back stronger, etc. I hope it all works out for the Texans, but I wouldn't put money on Clowney being a force on that D anytime soon (if ever).

That said, Wilfork would help replace Pickett who is 2 years older and Wilfork is just a better talent at this point. Also helps continue development of Nix. I still think Houston is wise to go OLB/ILB this draft. Cushing can't stay healthy and I feel Clowney is going to fit right in that dept.

Shane Ray, Jalen Collins (CB), Amari Cooper (if he falls), and Vic Beasley all make sense for the Texans.

Vince was my fav Pats player, he let his play do the talking for him, and whenever we sent a rb up the middle on them , I wanted to throw something at the tv because I knew it wasn't going over Wilfork mountain....
I was hoping Ozzie would go after him but looks like we can't afford him this yr and gonna go with our promising youngster....
I'm very happy that when we see the Pats again, he won't be there, I hope....whew !!

best run stopping bag of sand DL in football in his era, hard to really argue. his type is being phased out for the slimmer, more athletic guys. hes kind of a dinosaur.

cross the Texans off the list. a report from SportsRadio 610. On the air, the station elaborated that the differences came down to money – big Vince flat out wanted more than Bill O’Brien and Rick Smith were willing to pay.
