A list in college football where it pains me to put Oregon at the top.
Not sure about iowaI'm going to go with Wisconsin or Iowa.
Iowa has 5 10+ win seasons since 2000. So one every 4-5 years. Like Wisconsin, it seems like it just should have come together once. Not sure about iowa
I may be wrong, but I can't remember any of those years thinking, 'damn Iowa has an elite team'Iowa has 5 10+ win seasons since 2000. So one every 4-5 years. Like Wisconsin, it seems like it just should have come together once.
Wisconsin and Iowa are never the flashiest of teams, but shock teams in bowl games here and there.I may be wrong, but I can't remember any of those years thinking, 'damn Iowa has an elite team'
Iowa is better historically and has been the closest to winning one ( 85 ). Wisconsin has been great the last 20 years or so but before that was pretty awfulI don't think Wisconsin and Iowa are equals
Neither of theirs count.Auburn
Wisconsin is better historically, and by a pretty wide margin:Iowa is better historically and has been the closest to winning one ( 85 ). Wisconsin has been great the last 20 years or so but before that was pretty awful
Ya'll were close during the George Welsh era... Georgia Tech stole your half of the title the one year IIRC?
First ACC team to beat FSU... I remember it like it was yesterday. REALLY thought Warrick Dunn made it on that last play (Still thought it was dumb to run it from 4 or yards out as well.)...
That aside, UNC had some decent teams in the 90s under Mack Brown too... FSU always got in their way as well.
Oregon had their run, WVU and Va Tech, yes...
Wisconsin is funny because they sucked for SOOOOO long and have now been pretty solid for over a decade at least...
UCLA had their shot during the Cade McNown era.
One DOES stick out to me I think... Texas A&M... They had a run in like the late 80s and 90s where they were literally the only team worth a damn in the old SWC (sorry Texas, it was true) and they simply blew it every year and I don't think EVER even played for a National Championship (Might be wrong on that, but don't remember for sure...)... Anyway, for A&M it was ripe for the taking and they just refused.
Wisconsin is better head to head, better all time winning %, more conference championships, more all time wins, better bowl record, more all Americans, more heisman winners, more NFL draft picks and more weeks ranked.Iowa is better historically and has been the closest to winning one ( 85 ). Sure but most of that is due to the last 2 decades which was my point . If we were having this discussion in 1998 ko one would've picked Wisky over Iowa historically . Right now it's relatively close with a small edge to the Badgers. I think both teams made the Top 25 all time programs at 24 and 25 respectivelyWisconsin is better head to head, better all time winning %, more conference championships, more all time wins, better bowl record, more all Americans, more heisman winners, more NFL draft picks and more weeks ranked.
