I am gonna limit this to 10 choices.

I welcome all comments and please make this a good thread and not piss on others thoughts.

I am posting videos of all I am including in the poll. Of course feel free to add more. I am on Vacation right now and TBH fairly intoxicated. I have been jamming to music for the last few hours and though perhaps this could be a great discussion thread here at the Hoop.

Anyways here we go. Top 10 in no particular order. I will hold off on what I think are #1 etc until or if this thread gets some activity.

1) Stevie Ray Vaughn
2) Slash
3) Eddie Van Halen
4) BB King
5) Eric Clapton
6) Jimmy Page
7) Jimi Hendrix
8) Randi Rhodes
9) Angus Young
10) Chuck Berry

Now I do know that this is not a complete list. Below are video's of each artist listed in order of above

What Say you??

Jimi Hendrix all the way, baby! Just imagine what he could do if he were alive today with today's technology!

Angus Young really isn't that good and his stuff is pretty easy to play.

I think SRV is the best player but Jimi is the best writer/player.

Got to rank Hendrix at #1. Half the British Invasion wanted to kill themselves when they saw him live for the first time. The other half would follow him around to catch his performances and take notes. Page ripped off a lot of JH. Like the infamous criminal Machine Gun / No Quarter swipe.

I agree. Young is a great player and very influential, but not Top10. Replace him with Steve Vai on that list.

And replace Slash with Gilmour. Same reason.

I know there will be others mentioned for sure. I went with a compiled list of 4 different searches.

Few serious notables missing from this list:
- Mark Knopfler
- Steve Vai
- Joe Satriani
- Stanley Jordan
- Rik Emmett
- Chris Whitley

No disrespect to the original listing--as they are all great (especially SRV)---but there are way too many guitarists who are missing from what appears to be a "main stream list".

1a Stevie Ray Vaughn
1b Jeff Beck

Then everyone else.

I can see an argument made for top 10 in these Guitarists. Keith Richards, Pete Townsend, Duane Allman, David Gilmore, Neil Young, Les Paul (duh), Brian May, John Frusciante

abs imo Slash and Angus shouldnt be here. More like around 50ish
