If you want to go with who has the most dynamic voice you have to go with David Bowie.

Bowie is the only vocalist to ever range the keyboard in one song/cut. He did it in the hit song Fame.

I'll stick with Robert Plant as a personal favorite, though. There is no musical piece that he can't sing.

The part you're probably referencing is only a four octave span, and a modern grand piano spans 7 octaves and a third.

I love these threads. Typically ends up in a total shitstorm.

Way too many choices across many genres. That said I'll pull the typical "I'm gonna list 5 'best' front men" routine

In no particular order:

Plant
Mercury
Iggy Pop
Rod Stewart (when he was with Jeff Beck and Faces)
Eric Burdon

Honorable mention:
Axl Rose
GG Allin (speaking of shit storms)
Steve Marriot

And that doesn't even touch upon the R&B, Motown, Funk, Soul scenes....

I've been an avid Zeppelin bootleg collector/trader since the mid-80s.

Ever hear Plant do For Your Love shortly after the Yardbirds broke up and Zeppelin was hitting their peak?

It'll give you goosebumps and make you go numb.

If you're going all time in all genres.

James Brown

And it's not even close.

(in my opinion)

Bruce Dickinson or Ozzy for my vote, with Hetfield a close second.

Bono is a great frontman as well.

Zack De la Rocha is very talented and underrated imo. Nowhere near top of a list. Thought he was worth a mention.

I believe he spans the entire range of the piano. Listen to the song and you will see.

I would have to go with Robert Plant. However, there are many great ones, and here are a couple more who haven't been mentioned. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple, and David Coverdale of DP & Whitesnake. And don't forget Ann Wilson of Heart. As for the David Lee Roth fans, I hope you aren't picking him for his singing abilities.
