It's Lache's first big game of the season, and Baylor has a stretch of big games coming up (Oklahoma, Texas Tech in Cowboy Stadium, @Oklahoma State, @TCU, Texas)
Seastrunk has run for 100 yards in 11 of the last 13 games, and 10 of the last 11. Despite seeing limited time in the second half of games this season, thanks largely in part to Baylor blowing everybody out, Seastrunk is on pace for 1,489 yards and 18 touchdowns. He’ll be sure to see a bunch of time in second halves from here on out as Baylor’s schedule ramps up quite a bit.
Lache in the 1st half compared to 2nd half this season:
1st half -- 83 carries, 727 yards (8.8 YPC), 10 TD
2nd half -- 13 carries, 142 yards (10.9 YPC), 1 TD
Oklahoma will be a good first test as they’re allowing only 134 rushing yards a game (#28 in the nation) and have held opponents to under 100 rushing yards four times this season. However, against their two biggest match-ups so far this season, Texas and Notre Dame, Oklahoma has allowed 475 rushing yards.
When he first came to Baylor, Seastrunk boldly proclaimed that he would win the 2013 Heisman Trophy. That wasn't the first time Seastrunk has said he would win the Heisman. The other came when he arrived at Oregon as a freshman after being one of the nation's top high school running backs at Temple, Texas, less than 40 miles from the Baylor campus in Waco.
"If you're going to say something like that, you better back it up. And I feel like the kid has done nothing but do that," said quarterback Bryce Petty
"He gets in between the lines and he makes things happen. ... At any given time, he could take it for 75 yards. How does that not just want to make you hand the ball off to him?"
Bears receiver Tevin Reese said "anything Lache does is for the team." Even the Heisman talk.
"He basically just came out and said what everybody was thinking," Reese said. "We expected him to come to work like he was going to win the Heisman. He was going to try to win the Heisman every day. That's what we see from Lache."
