It sounds like Howie tried to get him to take a pay cut and he declined so he is out. He had a $2.1 million cap hit, of which $500,000 is dead money, so it saves some dough. I suspect he lands somewhere else, even though he is 33.

Seumalo was going to start anyway but this weakens our depth and I don't love it. I guess they think Warmack or Wisniewski can be the backup LG.

Marcus Smith never had a chance it seemed. They moved him around and he just didn't have the skill at any one position. He produced in college based on athletic ability as Rey noted, not technique. Barnett is like the opposite, so we will see if that is better.

He was a decent starting LG for the Eagles, and also has some experience playing tackle. Bottom line he is a solid backup at multiple positions and OK G starter if you have interior OL issues. But he is 33 years old so he may be close to done.

He was ranked 16th for guards in the league according to pro football focus. Eagles have plenty of young talent and we needed to unload the salary.
