Posted this on the WC:

Woke up at 4:00 am to call the hospital to see if we could be induced today and they said to come on. Wife just got her epidural and now we're just waiting around until the little bugger decides to make an appearance.

The week after Thanksgiving, the ultrasound estimated him at 8-7 plus or minus a pound. Any bets for the actual birth weight?

Finally getting ready to start pushing, so I'll probably be out for a while.

Yes, I did get the bourbon barrel old ale started a few weeks ago and put it in the secondary last weekend.

Well not quite ready to push just yet. She's went from 5cm to 9 cm over the last couple hours and he's going to check in on her in another hour. Then it looks like it's showtime.

The bourbon ale looked really good when I racked it on top of the bourbon soaked oak chips. First time using Irish Moss. Could tell it helped the clarity and there was a lot more trub in the bottom of the primary than batches I've done in the past, so it looks like a lot of the proteins did fall out of suspension. I do wonder if I should have just left it as is since it's going to be a bigger dark beer. Trying to decide if I should let it sit for the entire 6 months in the secondary which would probably be difficult to carbonate unless I added additional yeast? Or should I bottle after about 2 months in the secondary to get the carbonation and let it condition the rest of the way in the bottles?

I actually went by Bull and Bones on Monday while meeting the wife's family in Blacksburg and picked up a growler of their seasonal which just happened to be a bourbon barrel ale as well. So I've got something to "tease" me over the holiday season as it's a long 6+ month wait for mine to be ready.

Upstater: Yes, this is our first child. I'm think mid-9s for his birth weight myself.

Thanks for all the well wishes. We'll stay another night and head home around lunchtime tomorrow. So it looks like another Law and Order SVU and SportsHoopla marathon today. Just got Evan back from the nursery and he's just sleeping with Mom.

Going to be a good day.
