2 Yankees?

That's 2 more than I expected. :L

I wouldn't count Tanaka anyway, and Sanchez is mere trade bait now that they have McCann

I think BA's list is a bit off with Callis going to mlb.com - I certainly like BP and mlb's list better. But it's always fun to see these lists. Buxton is the clear #1 on all these lists now - Astros might regret that Correa pick. Think BA is a bit too high on Gallo. 4 White Sox made the BA list which is surprising too. Appel at 39? Wow. And I also like Austin Meadows a lot more but he'll have a lot of time to move up these lists.

With so many lists now, seems like these are becoming more and more consensus lists, not much to gain from each individual list.

Thor(Syndergaard) will slowly climb those rankings. As Collins said ''he has a hook from hell''

People brag about prospects, but you know every year we get these top 100 list and how many actually pan out? It is great having a top rated prospect though, but it is damn hard to make it in the MLB.

I would say the top 10-20 have a pretty decent shot, some big name prospects up there.

I expected Sanchez to be there, guy showed a lot of improvement defensively last season. McCann isn't going to be the catcher for the next decade, so he still could potentially be the future catcher

It's definitely not like football or basketball where high draft picks are almost expected to be perennial All Stars but given the choice of having highly or poorly rated prospects, you definitely want to be in the highly rated boat. I don't think you can get too caught up in these lists though. I mean half the guys aren't even old enough to shave.

But do we have reason to believe a guy like Buxton wont be a star?

Or even a pitcher like Syndergaard?

One of the prospects i'm intrigued about, is Bundy from Baltimore, coming off that surgery, I wonder if he could be the top pitcher he was drafted to be?

Agreed, you definitely rather have highly rated guys. Sometimes I see people say something like "my team is going to be good in a few years because of my highly rated prospects".

Even if they are #4 or #5 starters, those are valuable assets. That way, you don't overpay bums to fill the spots. "Panning out" is extremely relative.

About 90% of players listed in the BA top 100 will at least make the majors.

Top 100 Prospects: Year By Year - BaseballAmerica.com

"Pan out" and "make it" are a bit subjective but I don't think he's talking about just making a team.

I think the overall point is people get a little carried away with how many players their favorite team has on the list and how high they are. Obviously you would rather be the team with tons of guys highly ranked but that doesn't mean they're going to be studs who win your team the next 4 championships.
