There is literally no one out there worth getting unless you have a conference network and can capture revenue, which you don't and might never will. Otherwise expansion makes zero sense.

My new Big XIV.
The following alignment features the very important concept of having state of Texas representation in both divisions.
New members in BOLD CAPS.

WEST
BYU
COLORADO STATE

Kansas State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas
Texas Tech

EAST
Baylor
CINCINNATI
Iowa State
Kansas
MEMPHIS
TCU
West Virginia

Notes:
-The above expansion and alignment is based on converting the LHN into the Big XIV TV Network.

-By adding BYU and Colorado State, the Big XIV could arguably boast the best/most popular program/team in the states of Utah and Colorado..... possibly. Also.... re-entering the Colorado/Denver market is important, and remember that CSU is planning to build a brand new on-campus stadium.

-By adding Cincinnati and Memphis, the Big XIV would be getting the #2 best/most popular program/team in the states of Ohio and Tennessee. Also remember that Cincinnati just finished a major renovation/expansion of Nippert stadium.

-Keep in mind.... it's probably not the greatest idea to add UCF and/or USF partly due to the isolated geography of those two schools relative to the remainder of the conference, but also due to it's probably not worth getting the #4 and #5 programs/teams in the state of Florida, and partially due to the lower prestige of directional universities.

Man, no love for my Huskies?

we were a bowl team last year with a team that couldn't complete a forward pass.

They won't even win much, but they can at least be a competent B12 program.

UConn could be expansion partners with Notre Dame if/when Notre Dame is eventually forced to join a conference in the future.

This would be the smartest thing for the Big 12 to do, going to 14 teams. But who are they?

Can Memphis maintain without Fuente? Big question.

Is Colorado State truly any better than Colorado? Colorado is such a Broncos state, College teams are not a priority there.

BYU has proven that it belongs.
Cincinnati is close to proving that it belongs.

And then there is Houston. How much stink will Texas Politicians raise if Houston is not one of the four teams? The State of Texas(not University of Texas) the actual, physical state of Texas and its politicians, has proven that Politicians will be involved in Expansion. Texans claim that they like their boys playing in Texas near their mommas, adding four non-Texas teams could set off some sort of tremors.

Is being competitive in other sports important? or is it just bring in some teams that look good for football but are then easy wins in wrestling, golf, soccer, tennis, baseball, swimming, etc.

Does Academic Rankings actually mean anything? or is it just getting a Big 12 CCG and going to the CFP?

What kind of fucking crock of shit is this?

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said the analytics firm the league recently hired, Navigate Research, revealed that a 12-team league with an eight-game conference schedule and a championship game was the best model for putting a team in the CFP.

How in the bloody hell does anyone who knows thing one about statistics draw this conclusion on existing data? After all, no conference with a twelve school membership and eight game conference schedule has made the CFP to date. So on what data is this conclusion based?

No. It hasn't been important since conference expansion began nor have other significant items IMHO...i.e..I can't recall Mizzou winning any of the minor sports when they were in the Big12. (A&M has been damn good in some of them over the years) The ONLY thing that has been important in conference expansion is how much viewership revenue you can bring to the receiving conference...period.

Expansion is the wrong way. Just dissolve it and be done with it. Four mega-power conferences are what is desired anyway.

This is the best. He pays someone to run 40,000 season of EA Sports (or something similar) to reach the conclusion:

Bowlsby, who said the computer modeling showed the 12-member, eight-game schedule would slightly increase the league’s likelihood of getting teams into the Playoff, believes the data “will probably persuade some people one way or another.” But he said he wasn’t sure what his recommendation would be.
My recommendation is to report the actual increase and the variance of the results. Except then the data will be exposed as not supporting his hoped-for conclusion.

Clearly, what Bowlsby hired was a marketing firm, not a data analytics firm.
