Hudson covered first on a groundout, Eric Young jr. spiked him on his ankle. Young was distraught, wouldn't leave the field until they carted Tim off on a stretcher. Hudson appeared to tell him it's just baseball, don't worry about it.

No word up here in NY. At first they were saying it looked like he stomped the achilles and it might be a torn tendon. They haven't given an update.

Too bad about Tim Hudson. Unfortunate, but obviously it was an accident. I can't believe some thought it was intentional. If he just has a broken ankle, that would be relatively good. It's the Achilles you worry about with injuries like that at the back of the ankle. We Mets fans are wishing him all the best. Eric Young jr. showed respect and concern, checking on him, and apologizing..... Doing the right thing. Being a pro, and a class act.

NEW YORK -- Tim Hudson is out for the season with a broken right ankle, leaving the Atlanta Braves without the leader of their pitching staff as they make a push for the pennant.

The team says Hudson will have season-ending surgery in Atlanta once the swelling subsides. The right-hander was injured Wednesday night when Eric Young Jr. of the New York Mets inadvertently stepped on the back of Hudson's right leg while the pitcher was covering first base.

Atlanta placed Hudson on the 15-day disabled list Thursday and recalled left-hander Alex Wood from Triple-A Gwinnett to start against the Mets. Wood was set to pitch in place of Paul Maholm, who has a bruised left wrist.

Shit, Mets score 4 runs in bottom of 3rd. Wood not doing too good. Giving up a ton of hits. Wood was lucky not to give up runs after letting 2 leadoff runners on in 2nd but got out of it.
