Has got to be frustrating for Milone. He was pitching well the last couple months. So I now wonder what happens with a 2nd lefty starter. They couldn't possibly keep Pomeranz over Milone could they? After he is off of DL it will be interesting to see where he ends up or what role he takes.

Ya the AL West is the best division in baseball.

I would guess both Seattle and LA Angels make WC with A's winning division.

Tough road ahead for division games. Should be a great stretch of baseball in AL West.

Hoping for the A's to implode makes it very interesting! :suds:

You should know by now the A's don't implode. Steady as she goes. If they slip up it will be because they were bested, not because of an implosion.

It is a joy to watch this team do the little things. Near perfect execution in the fundamentals of the game.

Yesterday watching how they execute a cutoff play with a play at the plate. Runner was out. Perfect execution. Then Watching Toronto botch a few plays, one being an identical cutoff situation. Wasn't executed proper. And another A's run. I like it.

Perhaps "implode" is the wrong word. Early exit? :noidea:

Beat he Tigers. That is goal #2. Goal #1 is win the west.

Ultimate goal, hoist WS trophy #10 (5th in Oakland)

Eh, you guys have a good team, but I suspect that my enthusiasm for them is probably about the same as yours for the Denver Broncos. I know that I would feel much worse had you guys gotten Arrieta rather than Samardjia and Hammel. Regardless, I'm pretty much resigned to you guys taking the division, but I still have high hopes that those 4 WS titles remain very dusty. :suds:

Who would have thought that Semien would be the best player involved in this one?

In retrospect, I think people may have overreacted to the A's acquiring 2 good to mediocre pitchers.

They went from a 4 or 5 game lead in the division in mid august to losing the division by 10+ games and barely holding on for the second wildcard

Yeah, though Samardzija pitched pretty well for Oakland (118 ERA+, 111.2 innings in 16 games). The A's lineup took a nosedive in the 2nd half. Hammel kinda sucked. Russell's been a pretty disappointing hitter, but his defense has made himi a pretty solid player. Straily's been an effective if mediocre starting pitcher.

I guess it also depends on how good/bad the bottom 2 guys in their rotation were at the time. I can't remember
