Anyone concerned about Cruz' defensive work load?

I think we all thought he would primarily DH, but he's primarily been our RF more often then he hasn't. Lloyd being stubborn and "proving he doesn't have a platoon"? If he keeps having to run down balls in the gap were a much poorer defensive club, and he opens himself up for possible injury. I know you can't play scared, but damn he's our best bat, lets keep his legs healthy.

From what I have gotten looking around at beat writers' tweets and listening to interviews, Cruz wants to play RF. He actively pursues it with LMC, and works as hard as anybody with his defensive drills and flexibility work.

I'm surprised by how much he's played, but I'm not really concerned about it being a negative or anything. I get what you're saying, though.

Yea I think he's said things along the lines of he feels more in a rhythm or in the flow of the game when he's playing the field.

For what its worth here are the numbers so far this season;

Right field (13 games) 9 HR, 18 RBI, .392/.456/.941

DH ( 5 games) 0 HR, 2 RBI, .100/.100/.150

Small sample size yes but it is what it is.

Also I do not feel like Seth Smith is much better in the field if at all really.

I actually don't mind Cruz in RF but and its a huge but is the team and off season moves were built around him to being the DH. Its hard seeing a mass platoon at the DH position

I get he wants to play it,, he's a competitor I wouldn't want it any other way. But its Lloyds job to put this team in the best position to win,,,,, if cruz sucks every time he dh's i get it. But the sample size is too small. The competitor should figure out ways to be better locked in. Give Edgar a call pick his brain i know he's still around.
