Plano (Texas) West High running back Soso Jamabo, one of the most decorated signees in UCLA’s 2015 recruiting class, was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of drinking alcohol and fleeing police, according to a report from the Dallas Morning News.
Jamabo, 18, was booked into Kaufman County Jail in Texas around 1:30 a.m. and had not been released as of publication, the newspaper reported. He was being held on charges of evading arrest with a vehicle, minor consumption of alcohol, minor in possession of alcohol, speeding, driving without possessing a driver’s license and disregarding a stop sign.
It’s unclear what led police to initially attempt to pull Jamabo over. As the Dallas Morning News report notes, the high-profile running back may have been pictured at his senior prom Saturday night before the incident.
He was arrested by police in Kemp, Texas, which is about 45 miles southwest of Dallas.
UCLA Associate Athletic Director for Communications Josh Rupprecht acknowledged Jamabo’s arrest but declined to comment further.

I lived a year in Kemp, TX. Getting drunk and running from police is about as good as it gets there.

How is Urban recruiting for UCLA, Florida, and Ohio State? Everyone knows that only recruits of Meyer commit crimes.

According to one of the cops chasing him he was throwing 'stuff' out the window but didn't say what that stuff was, other than calling it evidence.

Before he decided on UCLA he jokingly was saying he was going to ITT Tech. Maybe he will end up there after all.

Unless they are just going to take a hard line and yank his schollie (he hasn't enrolled yet), they'll probably need to wait and see what happens as this case moves forward. I read where he could be facing a year in jail because of the evading police with a vehicle charge.

some additional info

Kemp Police Chief Robert Walker told the Morning News that police attempted to pull Jamabo over at 7:20 p.m. Saturday night after the vehicle he was driving exited State Highway 175 at a high rate of speed. But instead, according to the report, police said the vehicle ran a stop sign and turned onto a different highway. From there, the report said, police observed the vehicle speeding and swerving past other vehicles, while passengers in the truck threw objects out of the windows, "having total disregard for the public safety of others on the road," Walker told the Morning News.
The truck soon pulled over, the report said, and Jamabo exited the vehicle as instructed by police. While the passengers -- a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman and a juvenile -- were all given citations for alcohol possession and consumption by minors, Jamabo was arrested and booked into Kaufman County Jail at about 1:30 a.m.

At least he didn't shoot at the police...at this point I'd say that is progress.

I sure as hell did (both) in high school but was lucky enough to never get nailed. And if I would have seen the "red, blue, red, blue, you're screwed, you're screwed" lights, best believe I would have pulled that shit over to the side of the road immediately.

If UCLA does kick him out, I am sure that a certain program in the state of Alabama will be poised to give him a second chance, if he so desires.

Ohio State is in Columbus, Ohio, not Alabama.
