Is it BPA or drafting for need? This is an endless debate that crops up annually as the rite of passage better known as the NFL draft rolls around. Some take the position that BPA is always the way to go because getting the best of the rest always enhances your on field product. Is that true? Debatable and often unwise. Drafting for need? Again debatable and often not the best way to go. There is a third option and it's called drafting the best player available at a position of need. Let's talk about it!

BPA at a position of need is the way to go.

This gives you the best opportunity for success in the individual pick because he is the BEST player available.

From there, it makes little sense to spend a first rounder on a QB if you have a true star on your roster because you can only play one.

It would make little sense for us to take a DE when we have Sweat and Young for at least three years.

its a combo , i think you look at your needs , determine what order they are in , look for value and where they are on your board , and if that fails you just take the best prospect wherever it is

you shouldnt reach for a need nor should you pass up generational talent

1st round probably 12 - 19 max

Wow, I have first CB taken, which is probably to Dallas at #10. Is he BPA at 19 if JOk, Darrishaw, Tucker are all gone?

I know this question was targeted to only skins fans. But IMO it’s BPA of team identity. Skins are a defense team. If you draft another stud defender. Your defense will be that times more scary.
Doesn’t matter if you need it or not. Worst case that player becomes depth. Which is important too.

imo that’s where teams go wrong. If you are elite somewhere you need to compliment that eliteness. If that eliteness regresses at all you won’t be as good of a team no matter what.

We are not a 500 team yet hell we just need to find a way to be over 500 first

Sure. But if you attempt to fix a weakness and your strength regresses. Then you will regress regress too. No matter what.

Just a couple of reasons I don't like Darrisaw

Christian Darrisaw, Offensive Tackle, Virginia Tech. Some scouts question his levels of motivation and dedication to the game.

I agree, I don't see him as a potentially dominant player, IMO Spencer Brown out of NIU could potentially become Terron Armstead.
Lots of guys under the radar that with 2 years of experience could be offensive cornerstones

I have seen Farley rated ahead of those players. Given that we just signed Jackson I would rather have a LB or safety instead of Farley even though Farley may be rated a bit higher. Clearly best player at position of need for me.
