I keep waiting for all the people who thought Cam Newton was the greatest QB prospect in history to mention Luck. Luck basically matched all of Newton's combine numbers from last year. Yet nobody mentions Luck along those lines.

Luck isn't the same kind of athlete. He is a much more polished passer. However no matter Lucks measurables, he can't run through defenders, and over people and do things Newton can.

Newton also ran faster at about 15 pounds heavier.

Nobody mentions Luck? More like everyone is just tired of talking about Luck..... He was discussed over and over last year before deciding to go back, we had the whole 'suck-for-luck' campaign and I think his popularity hit it's peak in the fall.

I think the reason why there was so much chatter about Cam Newton was because there was such a wide range of opinions about him. Some loved him and some hated him. That made for a lot of debate.

With Luck, I think everyone expects him to be a star - By all accounts, he is the most pro-ready quarterback since Manning.

I don't think Luck gets credit for being as athletic as he is. Newton is hailed as an athletic freak, but Luck is just as good an athlete by the numbers.

Luck is an exceptional athlete, however like I said he still can't do a lot of the things Newton can athletically.

What can't he do? Run people over? Why would you want him running people over?

If he can't do those things then he isn't the athlete Newton is. That seems pretty simple.

He does everything you want a quarterback to do considerably better than Cam

We will see this year won't we? Let's see if he has the rookie year Newton did.

He won't put up as gaudy stats as Newton did, but he'll look like a championship-caliber QB.

He's a terrific athlete - I think we saw signs of that at Stanford (that one-handed catch comes to mind). That said, he's never put anything on film to suggest he has the ball-carrying skills of Newton.

He's a hell of an athlete..... And again, he's probably the best prospect at the position in over a decade. All I was saying is that he doesn't possess the ability to put up as many yards on the ground as Cam Newton. No shame in that.

Carson Palmer ran a faster 40 yd dash than Luck out of college.. Neither of them are in the same ballpark as Newton when it comes to athletic ability...

Luck's a cerebral QB with very good athletic ability. Newton's a freak of nature. it's not even close.

edit- not comparing them as QB prospects, but in athletic ability

What are the chances the Bengals draft Andrew Luck? I would have to think pretty good.

Cam can cut and make defenders miss better. I'm willing to bet his shuttle and verticle are both better. None of this matters much though and this discussion is pointless since Cam has become a pocket passer and there is no chance that Luck will turn into a mobile QB.

How often have you seen him play? Serious question, as Ohio isn't a big Stanford market. I think many of you are highly underselling his mobility. He's not Michael Vick but this kid certainly isn't Carson Palmer. When I've watched him, he has great footwork for a qb and is deceptively mobile
