Of active players and just for right now what would be your ultimate lineup? You can put anyone anywhere that you think would be best. For example, I'm going to choose Manny Machado as a SS and my lineup will consist of multiple CF's, I'll just simply slide one over to a corner outfield slot.

C: Salvador Perez
1B: Anthony Rizzo
2B: Jose Altuve
SS: Manny Machado
3B: Kris Bryant
LF: George Springer
CF: Mike Trout
RF: Giancarlo Stanton
DH: Miguel Cabrera
SP: Clayton Kershaw
SP: Max Scherzer
SP: Chris Sale
RP: Aroldis Chapman

Batting Order:
1. Jose Altuve
2. Mike Trout
3. Miguel Cabrera
4. Giancarlo Stanton
5. Manny Machado
6. Kris Bryant
7. Anthony Rizzo
8. Salvador Perez
9. George Springer

Might get some arguments at 1B with Goldschmidt and Votto.
Arenado could be a 3B.
Ah, blessed DH to fix some of those problems.

Wow, Bryant in the 6 hole.

I was super close to choosing Goldy at 1B, but went with Rizzo because of the added defensive bonus. If you had that exact same lineup what batting order would you choose? It was obviously difficult because of so many all-stars!

Well, to be a bit evasive, I think I'd be pretty much up to speed on who was hitting and who was slumping. In that lineup, very few slumps of course. It's odd that if you have that sort of hitting, a lot of components of baseball stop being useful -- such as the stolen base or bunt. You just club em to death. Might be, i'd move guys depending who we were playing -- though we'd be 20 games ahead with 110 to play so I don't know as it matters.

I like Altuve in the 1 spot and since I like Votto over Rizzo, he'd be my 2 guy.

Another tack on this is, since there are a lot of really great players on other teams that you did not include, do I get to have an all-star team too?

So the question is: Who's on that team?

As well, with those hitters, you don't need to move a guy out of position to play SS. You get the best glove you can find. If he's a .250 hitter in that lineup, he's going to hit .280. And he isn't going to need to take a walk.

My (full 30 team) Sim league team has Cespedes-Springer-Stanton in the outfield. Yes, we do hit an awful lot of HRs

Why is rizzo better than Goldschmidt? Bryant better than arenado or machado? You're acting like an all star manager.
:stephena:

Rizzo is better than Goldschmidt because they're both good offensively but Rizzo is better defensively. I guess you could say the same thing for Arenado over Bryant, but I chose Bryant in that one and I didn't say Bryant was better than Machado, I put Machado as the shortstop.

I could ask you the same thing in reverse. Why is Goldschmidt better than Rizzo? Why is Arenado better than Bryant? It's your opinion, just like it was my opinion to do the other way.

I don't think you have to prove if a guy is better. It's your all-star lineup and the one you think is the best.

Most all-star teams are rating guys who are currently at the top of their game.
How about an all-star team of guys who might someday be there?
Does anybody see any of these guys on that list?
Just the NL-Central examples:

Kyle Schwarber
Jose Peraza
Addison Russell
Carlos Martinez
Jameson Tallion
Josh Bell
Jonathan Villar

Who else?
