I have no problem with elite players getting the big money although it is getting pretty steep but to hand out big money for mediocrity is dumb. There's already too many slightly above average players getting signed for superstar money.

If you're a top player at the position than yes, maximize what you can get. Not every player can or should get a max contract cause of their skill level.
