Airbag recall

Just found out that my 2006 Nissan sentra is on the recall list. I contacted Nissan tonight and should received a text from them soon. Hope they set me up with an appointment at the nearby dealership. and I just added new brakes a month ago, I can't lose money for nothing.

Were you just now notified? We replaced ours in an 07 Nissan over a year ago. Dealer will pay for everything, just take it in

I been receiving letters about a recall for the past several months, didn't have the chance to reply to them. So today I did go to a dealer about the letter, he said trade the car. And I recently added brakes two months ago. Oh man.

Uhhh.... They're required to change it without cost, I think.

I work at a car dealership in the parts department. We do airbag recalls all the time. The biggest hurdle is getting the parts because warehouses will limit the amount you can get per week, but it sounds like yours is a few months old, so they probably have a surplus by now.

If your dealership is halfway competent it should be an in and out thing. Won't take more than an hour if you have an appointment.

Well of course the dealer will want you to trade in, but if there's nothing else wrong with the car, just tell them to replace the defective airbag and that's it. They did the same thing to us, we just didn't let them pressure us.

2006? How many people had their airbag fail for them to do a recall?

Yeah I guess there's no statute of limitations on something like that. Plus I think with cars, even if they get sold a few times they still send the recall notices to people based on their registration.

Yeah "trade it in" is often followed by "have I got a sweet deal for you". I went through this with my Ranger, the part was on back order but once it was in they switched it out no problem.
