Ok,way OT: I've been trying to get CFA for my lunch break for the past week and still can't get through the drive-through in time to get back to work. The parking lot's always packed, with lines going into the streets. I want my damn spicy Jesus deluxe!

I thought that this was weird until I remembered that the "DC" in your name is not a location, and you are in Hot Lanta.

Then it made sense.

Back on Topic. Ummm...

To be honest I really don't care. You can't see the ads when they're playing anyway. I just hope the season is actually played this year. I'm starting to feel pretty uneasy about it.

If they allowed ads could we see political ads too. Wouldn't that be 'great'?

How would they ever fit "Mitt Romney may or may not have inadvertently burned down an orphanage, and he probably doesn't even know he did it, or care, so vote Obama in '12!" on a hockey sweater?

Maybe jerseys could have a green box that the network could project ads, even moving ones, onto? Maybe change them each period?

I wouldn't mind the extra revenue stream as long as it was a league-wide deal and divided evenly among the 30 teams. But from reading the article it sounds like each individual team would be negotiating their own deals which would just widen the gap between the small market and big market teams. Either way, small patches wouldn't really bother me. I'd hardly notice them. I wasn't even sure we already had them or not.

Also I definitely don't see it lowering ticket prices for teams that are already selling out every night. It might have a small impact on ticket prices for teams that are not already at capacity though.

First it starts with a small patch-Nicotine? and then it'll be like the ugly freaking Euro trash uniforms in no time.

How soon before condoms, alcohol, tobacco,Viagra, casinos,Bountiful Berthas' brothel,etc...are plastered all over.Screw that crap.

I can live with smaller ads on shoulder patches or the bottoms of jerseys, but that's as far as I could budge to keep fan-cost down. The helmets in Europe look ridiculous, and the jersey banners look just as bad.

This ^^^. The Euro's uni's look like shit. Screw the nascar look.

Better idea. Put sponsorship tags on the coaches and refs, but leave the players alone. You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down?

If it came with a league mandated rider that said that ticket prices had to be reduced by X% to correspond to the increase in revenue from the ads on the jerseys, I'd be totally OK with it.

Something like if the team gets $10M from the jersey sponsorship per year, they have to reduce total ticket prices by $8M (about $10/ticket on average for teams selling out every home game). That way the team is still making more off the sponsorship than they were from ticket revenue (otherwise, why bother) and it's also benefitting the fans.

But since that will NEVER happen....no.

Hate the "glass" ads that are popping up on tv now. Jersey ads will be horrid when (and the will) start up. First it will be a league sponser like Bridgestone. Then teams will ad local sponsers until one day the Los Angeles Rocco's Tattoo Balms take the ice

If this happens the Isles logo will become so small that nobody will know they exsist. Not that many do anyway, Wang would have a field day with this. It would be unbelivable how many sponsors he would attempt to get. After all this is the only owner in professional sports with a tattoo parlor in his arena/stadium.:L
