Disagree. Assuming it really was a mistake by the Lakers, it can be offset by the fact that they still won the trade. Firing him now, just creates more turmoil than they need when trying to land FA's.

I would love for them to hire someone more experienced as a consultant though. If they did that, it would help Pelinka tremendously and could help to prevent future mistakes.

IDK, if you do it right then there shouldn't be too much turmoil created but I see what you're saying it's a pickle either way.

When JR gets traded or waived, I will put money on it that he goes to the Lakers. Depnding on how they fill the team as a starting SG or backup. Most likely backup but if they were to get DLo or Kyrie, JR could very well start

I doubt it. I don't think they could fit someone to keep track of the score for him under the cap.

Are you sure LBJ doesn't still want to strangle him?

Lol If he is out there with no team you better believe LA will sign him just to be a bench filler. He can still shoot, that’s about it

I think the Lakers would be smart to go after DLo. Only would command about $20M instead of the max like Kyrie and you can add another $8/12M contract depending on what their cap space ends up being possibly

How does DLo compare to Kyrie, is he up to Kyrie's level? I haven't watch him enough to evaluate him.

Similar styles of play.

Kyrie is better and more proven.

DLo is younger, cheaper, has less injury history, and less history of creating locker room drama (yes I know he has had issues too)

All considered, it is really hard to choose because Kyrie is Defintely better. But he also comes with a lot more risk factors.

Which one do you think the Lakers would be better off signing?

Wow.

If Kyrie is willing to sign a long term deal for what the Lakers have available, then Kyrie.

But chances are he would be looking at a 1+1 type of deal if he did something like that so he could get a pay raise each year.

DLo probably would commit 4 years for a full RFA max type deal.

If I had to choose between 1 year of Kyrie with a possibilty he changes his mind next summer, or 4 years of DLo, that is a pretty easy call, IMO.

Give me Dlo.

He isnt on Kyrie’s level but he could be more affordable option. Now, he is like Kyrie where he needs the ball in his hands BUT I think he has evolved as more a team player than he was at Ohio St. he has always been a very good passer but I think he would do fine alongside Lebron and AD, he would serve better as #3 than Kyrie...he would accept that role more

That's a good point. Kyrie in Cleveland was the second option and wasn't very happy, he probably won't like being a 3rd option. Like you said, DLo would accept that role better most likely. Furthermore, DLo will develop as Lebron declines that could allow AD and DLo to become a formidable duo.

I love me some Dlo but the Lakers should pass (even if he's willing to put bad blood aside). I believe I remember reading the max available to him is actually 27 mil, not 20 mil. That's just too much cap space to give to a guy like him for this team. So they'd have to get the 30+ mil in cap space they need to sign him with and he'd take up most of it. At that point, you might as well use it on a Kawhi or Kyrie. I think I'd prefer if they'd use the 30 mil to spread across multiple free agents. Like you said, you can still get some quality guys at around 18 to 20 mil and still have enough to get other good players left over. D'Lo is probably too far out of the price range

What if neither Kawhi nor Kyrie want any part of the Lakers?

Kawhi and Kyrie cost more than $30.

And if that trade is finalized on July 6, the Lakers don't have a pathway to generate that much cap space unless they dump all their other contracts and get AD to waive his trade kicker. Even then, pretty sure they are short a max contract spot that Kawhi and Kyrie would command.
