Is he going to be a breakout player?

No I am referring to Jose. I drafted him late and since I'm not gonna get a homerun hitter for Votto I need to go after a 2b/ss or pitcher for him. That way Abreu can take over Votto's spot as I ended up drafting Stanton and potential studs in Taveras and Machado.

He should do fine. But, he is still a ? in my book. The raw talent is there, but he has both a new and better league to play in, he has the whole cultural thing to deal with as well. As such, I would have trouble counting on him for production.

Dont forget that he also plays 1B... unless you are in a deep league where the top 15+ 1B are played then it will be difficult for him to be a fantasy breakout... or even a fantasy starter...

Careful.

Unless you get Hanley or Tulo, there is no way you win a Votto for MI trade.

Abreu could be a fantasy stud or a complete bust. I would feel pretty good about him as a UTIL bat, but not my starting 1B.

I'd sell him to the highest bidder before the season starts to get that MI. Votto scares everyone with his "measly" 24 HR, but everyone forgets to look at his guaranteed .300+ average.

or .400+ OBP in leagues that care about walks he is the most under-rated top 15 player...

Just my two cents on this. .
First off I am in agreement with T lance on being very careful about dealing Votto.. If the Lynch on In a deal is a MI.. You'd better ask for the moon.

Having said that, I'm a big believer in Abreu, but I would not feel comfortable dealing Votto with him as my safety net.

I think Abreu will do well. 30HR power. Where he lands in the 1B ranks is tough...wouldn't surprise me if he was better than Rizzo/Belt. Hard to count on a lot more than that (because that's already a leap of faith)
