Everyone talks of having to resign Murray. Thing most of us havent really considered. What if Murray doesn't want to resign? I mean he seems pretty upset how he has been used this season. maybe he wants a fresh start on a team where he might be happier at. If he goes all next season uninjured & stays healthy, he can up his stock. The NFL knows his talent already. It would be a risk to go all next season without resigning a lucrative contract with the boys, but he would be betting on himself, which many players are willing to do. Has anyone even thought he might not want to negotiate a new contract with the boys & rather hit FA & see what the market would bare?

Its still a pass happy league. He may not be happy anywhere. Murray still has not proven he can stay healthy for the entire season

Lacy in the 2nd round would have been an ideal pick to slide in beside Murray. Hopefully Jerry forgoes premium round projects this year

just giving you guys a different thought. What might be in his mind could be way different than what all of us are thinking. Most of us seem to be thinking he wants to re up with us & it being a matter of should we. That might not be the case at all in his mind. Which I assume they will talk before the draft. but it might change the whole thought on how we draft next year depending on how he is thinking.

An aging running back with an injury history is not worth breaking the bank on while we have a pass happy GM, Head coach, OC and QB.

I was never a fan of the idea that an RB with a history of injuries would be a must sign. Jerry messed up when Barber was up for a new contract, I'n hoping he doesn't do the same with Murray.

If you want to say injury prone then I can agree, but aging? Murray is only 25 years old, has only 542 career carries on his body and has a career 5 yards per carry average. I don't get the aging thing.

Average career of an NFL back is 3 years. He is signed through next year when he will be 26 and have 4 years of service. For his position, he is not a young man. Tough in this NFL era to have an NFL running back with longevity. My other points are that we don't run enough as well as him being injury probe.

Someone needs to tell that to MJD, and Jamal Charles, and Adrian Peterson as well. Three years is a joke. Emmitt lasted 15 and had 988 yards his 15th year.

I love Murray, but love the future outlook of this offensive line more. Tyron Smith should be the #1 priority when it comes to the next big signing.

Average at any position is roughly that. It's not because the players that make impacts don't last that long; it's because something like 50% of guys don't even make it a year.

Exactly, there are many players who are drafted who are not cut out to be NFL players. The star players who are good enough last a lot longer. A good running back usually starts breaking down around the age of 30+.

Keep in mind, the better backs usually had good lines protecting them. Up until this season Murray hasn't had a good o line so he has some hard miles on him.

542 carries in three years isn't exactly hard miles. Most good backs have twice that many carries in three years.

How many of those was he getting hit behind the line however?

How many times did Barry Sanders get hit behind the lines in his entire career? The only reason he retired was because he lost the will to play.

Also, a hit is a hit whether its behind the line, at the line, or after he gets through the line. A running back is hit every time he touches the ball, unless he gets lucky and pops one untouched and that don't happen often.
